Mabank Junior High Students and Parents!
The goal of the Mabank Junior High Counseling Department is to help students reach their full potential academically, explore themselves emotionally, build connections socially and develop a positive identity.
As your students’ counselor, I am here to help them overcome many of the challenges facing junior high students today. My vision is one in which every student is motivated, develops a healthy self-esteem and feels empowered to make wise decisions.
I am here to advocate for your children throughout their years of junior high. As a parent or guardian, you are critically important to their happiness and success. Together, we can work towards making this experience a strong and productive foundation for the future.
Students who wish to speak to me about academic issues that include schedule changes, grades, and college/career matters should complete the Counselor request form in the counseling office. After signing, the student should return to class and wait for me to call for them.
Any student with any kind of personal crisis should ask to see the counselor at once. Personal crisis/problems take priority over other matters.
Note to Parents or Guardians: As the Junior High Counselor, I am available to you as well and look forward to discussing your student's academic progress or problems with you. Please understand that as the only counselor, I have many responsibilities and obligations to both students and faculty/administration and I am not always available to meet with you. I regret that parents often take time off from their job to travel to the school campus only to discover I am off campus at a meeting. Please call ahead and make an appointment and give the reason for your visit. In doing so, you give me time to prepare for your visit so that I can efficiently maximize your time.
