MHS Girls Varsity Golf
MHS Girls Varsity Golf

The MHS Girls Varsity Golf Team won first place at the Eustace golf tournament held Monday, February 22, at Cedar Creek Country Club with a team score of 425. “As our first tournament of the year I am pleased. The girls fought tough through the 30 degree temperatures and the six hour rounds. That’s a long time to be on the golf course much less trudging through the weather. Whitney Evans was low medalist of the Mabank team with a score of 105. Lindsay Mesa shot 106, Taylor Thrasher shot 106, Katie Hibbs shot 109, Hannah Keller shot 119, and Calli Smith shot 130. I know the girls can shoot much lower scores, but a “W” is always a good start to the season.” Coach Adrienne Gautreaux McDonald.

Haiti penny power
Haiti Penny Power

The Haiti penny power was a joint effort by Mabank High Schools Interact and BETA clubs to raise money to donate to the Haiti disaster relief.  The fundraiser “Penny Power” took place in third period classes for 9 days.  All of the pennies donated to the third period class were counted as a positive and all the silver change and currency (which we call being bombed) was counted against the amount in the cup.  The response was amazing and in less than two weeks Mabank High School students and faculty raised $1800.00.  Coach Sheltons class came out ahead and raised over $300 for the fundraiser.  Thank you to all of the teachers who participated.

MHS Dream Tree

As part of the Rachel’s Challenge Project, Mabank High School has challenged students and faculty to Dare to Dream. The Dream Tree was constructed by members of the Friends of Rachel Club. The students and faculty of MHS were asked to write their goals/dreams on a paper leaf. These leaves were attached to the Dream Tree located in the Common’s Area. The Dream Tree symbolizes the growth and development of all our students’ and facilities’ goals and dreams. It also serves as a reminder to all to pursue their dreams and continue working towards their ultimate goals.

Students are: top: Seniors Chelsea Alldredge, Jenice Mojica, Sophomores Ashton Norman, Cheyenne Alldredge, Senior Melissa Mannon; bottom: Junior Lupe Garza, Seniors Tray Phillips, Jacob Woodard and Tyler Fisher.  These students assisted in the design and creation of the Dream Tree.
