Ancient Settlement Project Left to right...Maridean Williamson, Marie Bookman, Josh DeMayo and Caleb King These students presented their Ancient Settlement Project in Ms. LaNier’s World History class. During this project, groups had to work together to build a civilization and explain how geography impacted the people that lived there, including scarcity of resources, land distribution, settlement area, etc. They also had to come up with a religion and trading system for their civilization and explain the problems that the people encountered and how they solved those problems. In addition, they compared their settlement to others we have studied so far this year. This group’s map was 3D, very detailed and even had real running water for their city! Overall, a great job by these students!!

Mabank High School Junior Caleb Massengale demonstrates classical conditioning using the "Pavlov's Dog" experiment. In Ms. Amanda LaNier’s Psychology class, every time the bell rang, the students got to taste some sour candy powder (it was Gatorade). This continued as class went on, and even after they ran out of powder, their mouths continued to water every time I rang the bell. They also, instinctively reached for their empty napkin.
Mabank High School Health teacher Jeff Lee invited Officers Main and Bradshaw of the Mabank PD to show students what would happen if they were pulled over for drinking and driving and given a sobriety test on the highway. All the students were given 3 different sets of goggles that had different Blood Alcohol Concentration levels. Each had to try and walk the tape line with their hands behind their back. The kids loved doing this and really saw how it can affect their ability to walk straight. The picture of the student is Sophomore David Gamble and he has drinking goggles that impair your vision as if you have been drinking.
