You are expected to be in your black pants, black shoes, black socks, and plain white t-shirt. Dress shirt, vest and tie will be provided on the day of the contest.

Evaluations for January/February - Junior High Wind Ensemble

Members of the Jr. High Wind Ensemble will have several “project” grades during the months of January/February.  The following is some of the criteria/requirements:

 Starting January 24th each student will be able to play the following assignments.

 Section 1:            "Monterrey March"                        m. 1 – 42

                             "Pinnacle"                                    m. 1 – 26 count 1

                             "Dances from Terpsichore"           m.  1 – 16, m.  1 – 20

 Section 2:            "Monterrey March"                        m. 43 – 84

                             "Pinnacle"                                    m. 26 – 53 count 1  

                             "Dances from Terpsichore"           m. 17 – 32, pick-up to m. 21 – 52

 Section 3:            "Monterrey March"                        m. 85 – end

                             "Pinnacle"                                    m. 53 – end

                             "Dances from Terpsichore"           m. 33 – end, m. 52 – end

Some examples of what directors will be listening for arecorrect notes/rhythms with good tone qualities, phrasing, style of music, and intonation/tuning of pitch center of each of the notes.

 In addition each member of Jr. High Wind Ensemble will be required to prepare a solo for the CC Solo and Ensemble Festival.  The performance date will be on Thursday, February 24th at Mabank High School.

 

Congratulations to those students who made a band in the J.H. ATSSB All-Region Band Try-outs!

Several band members went to Kaufman on December 2nd to audition for the ATSSB All-Region Band.  Congratulations go to:
